Sushi World's blog
Sushi World has been fortunate enough to acquire a 200+ lb Bluefin Tuna and we want to share it with you! Bluefin Tuna Palooza is on! Check out this beautiful slab of freshly cut Bluefin Tuna Belly (Toro). Come and get it while we still have it. This is the part that always goes first and it goes fast. Be sure to also check out all the other special Bluefin Tuna items we temporarily have. Call us at (714) 828-3474 for all take-out and reservations!
Dining-in has been restricted once again so we are now offering Dine-out! We've set up a few tables outside so that you may enjoy the beautiful OC weather while still getting your sushi fix in. As we are limited in the number of tables we can have outside everyday, please call us at (714) 828-3474 to make reservations. You can also call us at that number to place all take-out orders as well. Happy Hour is all day on Mon & Tue, 2pm-5pm Wed-Fri.
A favorite roll from many of our regulars is our Baked Blue Crab Rolls. We make the baked blue crab with garlic aioli fresh in house so you know it's gotta be good! It's accompanied by a little bit of rice and then wrapped in a sesame soy paper. You can always ask for it wrapped in seaweed but we believe it tastes better wrapped in the soy paper. You can also get it as a hand roll if you want it all for yourself. And, there's no raw fish so it's definitely sushi-virgin friendly. We love virgins.
A very popular dish among sushi aficionados is ankimo, also known as monkfish liver. If you enjoy foie gras, you'll especially enjoy our ankimo because we make ours in-house. It's been called the foie gras of the sea with its delectably rich taste and texture. We serve our ankimo in perfect little medallions with some gelatin and sesame seeds as garnish. Ankimo is one of those dishes where the longer you let it sit out and cool down to room temperature, the better it will taste. Next time you come in, give it a try if you're an adventurous sushi lover with exquisite taste buds.
We really shouldn't have to say much about this beauty. Just look at it. Absolutely beautiful. The fattiest and most delicious part of our Bluefin Tuna is the most desired and you can easily see why. You can see the beautiful fatty lines running all across these pieces of sashimi. Of course, this is in very limited supply so you better hurry up and come on in and get it while we still have it. Of course, our regular Bluefin Tuna Sashimi isn't bad either so that's always an option if we're out of Toro.
Sushi World's Happy Hour, the best in all of Orange County, features an array of appetizers all for only $3.99 each, which includes the pictured Shishito Peppers topped with Bonito Flakes. Now, if you haven't had it, you must! It's not spicy or hot, as you might think. It's just a pepper that tastes great! And, it's only $3.99 during our Happy Hour, which is all day on Mondays and Tuesdays and on all other weekdays from 2pm till 5pm. Also enjoy $2.99 sushi, and $12 Sapporo pitchers.
Being a sushi restaurant, not all of our fish or food is served raw. We also have a full kitchen behind our sushi bar ready to serve up a number of various items for patrons looking for something other than sushi, like Hamachi Kama (Yellowtail Collar), Salmon Colllar, Salmon Teriyaki, Chicken Katsu, and the pictured, Miso Marinated Black Cod. They can come a la carte (with rice), or as a combo with Miso Soup, Rice, House Salad, and 5 pieces of Mixed Tempura. It's a great option, especially when you come with a big group where someone is not yet comfortable with sushi.
Don't you hate it when you go out and everyone agrees to dress up and then it turns out you're the only one? Yeah, our Caterpillar Roll knows exactly how that feels, especially around a platter of tuna, salmon, tako, and red snapper nigiri. Come dressed up as a sushi roll and we'll give you a free sake! But please, if you do, take a picture while you're at Sushi World and post it publicly so that we can see it, too! We hope everyone has a fun and safe Halloween out there. If you don't get enough treats, come on in! We'll surely "treat" you right!
Swing on by soon and try out our Dragon Roll! It features a Shrimp Tempura center and it's topped with Unagi (Baked Eel), and Avocado. It's very simple, contains no raw fish, and is great any time of the day! It's great for sushi virgins who are not quite ready to eat raw fish. Unagi a great way to work them into sushi, being that it's baked eel. If eel freaks them out, then tell them it's baked fish. If that doesn't work, don't bring them next time so you can enjoy your sushi in peace.
An absolute favorite amongst our regulars is our Albacore Carpaccio. While the delicious slices of albacore are hidden underneath an avalanche of fried arugula, it's also accented with a ponzu sauce and garlic chips. It has a little bit of everything that makes it great as an appetizer or as a main dish during your meal. The fried arugula has a nice crispy crunch to it but couple it with the tenderness of the albacore will make it every bite an absolute joy in your mouth.
It's official! We've added another unique sushi roll to our already extensive list of sushi rolls. Our Superman Roll has been floating around amongst our regulars for some time now so we've decided to make it a regular part of our menu. First of all, it features no rice, a very common request from our patrons. It's tuna, salmon, and imitation crab in the center and wrapped with a soy paper and then dressed with fried garlic, green onions, ponzu sauce, and our eel sauce. If you can't tell, this sushi roll is extremely tasty.
We have quite an extensive menu and an item that has been humbly on there forever is our Agedashi Tofu. It's a very simple Japanese dish consisting of lightly battered and fried tofu cubes in a dashi sauce. A little green onion on top and that's about it. Very simple yet tasty. It's a great appetizer to get in between all that sushi you're eating while at Sushi World. Next time you swing by, be sure to look at our whole menu to see if there might be something else you enjoy. If not, always stick to your favorites. And also always check our Specials Board.
Unagi is eel baked in a sweet soy sauce. For some who are still wary of eating raw fish, we have this bowl to fulfill your needs. It's quite simple and consists of generous portions of Unagi, Tamago (Japanese egg cake), vegetables, and of course, rice on the bottom. It's a simple, ideal lunch that will truly fill you up. It's full of flavor and perfect for lunch but you can also have it for dinner. Many who especially enjoy Unagi sushi will absolutely love this bowl.
Hand rolls are for selfish people like you. They're made for one person and you get to hold it and eat it all by yourself. It's kinda weird and awkward to share a hand roll. Our Hand Rolls are made to order and can pretty much consist of anything you can think of. If you can especially get it as a sushi roll, we can make a hand roll version of it. We also can use a soy paper instead of seaweed paper for any hand roll.
Our Chicken Teriyaki Bento Boxes are only available during lunch and they're awesome! You have the choice of dining in or taking out. Doesn't matter because either way, it's delicious! Each bento box comes with 2 pieces of shrimp tempura, 3 pieces of vegetable tempura, miso soup, and a bowl of rice. Our Bento Box #1 comes with Spicy Tuna Roll or California Roll and it's only $9.95. Our Bento Box #2 comes with 1 sushi piece of each: tuna, albacore, salmon, and shrimp. It costs $11.95.
If you prefer, we can make any sushi roll with a sesame wrapper (or paper) instead of the usual seaweed wrapper. It's really a preference of choice. You might find that you like certain hand rolls with one wrapper over the other. We really don't mind. Just let our sushi chefs know and they'll gladly make the adjustment. In this picture, you'll see our Salmon Skin Hand Roll with the Sesame Wrapper. It's only $4 during our Happy Hour which is all day on Mondays and Tuesdays and on all other weekdays from 2pm till 5pm.
Happy Hour all day on Mondays and Tuesdays at Sushi World in Cypress! That makes us a pretty good Coachella Recovery Center for all those coming back from partying all weekend. We're also the best official start of every week in the OC! Why? Because you can get our awesome $4.5 Salmon Skin Salad along with our $2.99 sushi and $3.99 appetizers. Oh, and to wash it all down, we of course, have our $12 Sapporo pitchers which will really help you recover from life.
Sushi World'sHappy Hour features several rolls like the pictured Spicy Tuna Roll. It goes for $3.99 during our HH which is all day on Mondays and Tuesdays and on Wednesdays through Fridays fro 2pm till 5pm. Jumbo Scallop is usually on the Specials Board at Sushi World and we've featured the sushi version before. Now, we want to show you what our Jumbo Scallop Sashimi looks like because it's one of our favorite items to get. The taste and texture is similar but still very different from fish sashimi. There's a bit of firmness to it and they're usually a bit more wet. We serve it with some salt and that's pretty much all you need to enjoy these little bad boys
We just can't get enough of Bluefin Tuna at Sushi World and we want to share it with you! Our killer Bluefin Tuna prices can't be beat anywhere! We just acquired 2 whole Bluefin Tunas and are ready to share them both with you. Feel free to get the Tuna or the Toro. Toro is the fatty tuna that comes from the belly portion of the fish and it usually runs out quick. This has been on our Specials Board for quite some time and will probably go on for a while longer. Be sure to swing by and take advantage of it soon before we realize this is way too good of a deal to be offering.
Yay! It's finally raining again in Orange County! While we can't expect to get any snow anytime soon, we figured getting a Snowman Roll is just as good. The center consists of shrimp tempura, snow crab mix, avocado, and cucumber and then it's all wrapped up in a delicious soy paper with black sesame seeds on it. And to finish it off, we lightly dress it with a sweet sauce. Why did we name it the Snowman Roll? If you use your imagination, it's a Snowman cut up into delicious pieces that you can eat. Some assembly required.
Yay! It's finally raining and gonna rain some more. And we know how you get when it starts raining. You want to stay in. While we prefer that you come in to dine with us, we understand that under some circumstances (like rain and kids), you'd prefer to stay at home and eat. Well, don't sweat it. We got you covered. Order anything on our menu (except for alcohol) and we'll pack it up to-go for you. Just give us a call and we'll prepare whatever you wish and all you have to do is find someone to go pick it up for you. Sounds like a pretty sweet deal. Now get to calling!

You don't have to go all the way to New York to get our Manhattan Roll. Heck, you don't even have to go to Manhattan Beach. We have it right here in Cypress, Orange County! It consists of spicy yellowtail with cucumbers and radish, and then it's topped with masago and a mustard soy dressing. Easily one of the favorite rolls at our sushi bar. Come on by and try it out today! We also have quite an assortment of other awesome, finely crafted sushi rolls that our sushi chefs will gladly put together for you today.
One of our favorite appetizers is our baked mussels. It's so simple and oh so yummy. We take some mussels, top it with our special Japanese aioli, bake them, and then top them with some masago and green onions. They're always a great way to start a sushi session at Sushi World. Tell your neighbors! (But don't tell them about how you steal their Victoria Secret catalogs.)
There is no where else in Orange County where you can get a quality beer for that price! $12 for a pitcher of Sapporo all day on Mondays and Tuesdays and on all other weekdays from 2pm till 5pm. Why? Because we love to drink when we eat sushi, especially good sushi! Enjoy our beer but also enjoy our $2.99 sushi, and $3.99 appetizers, which are also available during our absolutely awesome Happy Hour. Now, you have no excuse for not coming by for the best deal in all of Orange County!
Another week in the OC and it's beautiful out, as usual. After you take advantage of being outside, come on in Sushi World where we'll take care of you and make your week even more perfect. Like this ikura, which is obviously salmon roe with a quail egg on top. Eggs with another egg. Don't forget, we also have happy hour all day on Mondays and Tuesdays and from 2pm till 5pm on Wednesdays through Fridays. While other sushi restaurants take a break during this time, we remain open and like to reward those who do come in at that time.
We have a tank of live sweet shrimp always ready for our special customers who enjoy amaebi. We understand that it's not for everyone but we do strongly suggest you try it at least once in your lifetime. We use the body of the live sweet shrimp and make it into a nigiri sushi or sashimi (your choice!) that is absolutely delicious. And then, we take the heads, lightly batter them, and then deep fry them for you. It's like eating sweet shrimp potato chips. So you have the two contrasting textures: the softness of the shrimp's body and the crunchiness of the heads.
We have everything to complete a meal, including awesome desserts! This dessert is simplest of all but sometimes, all you need is a little Green Tea Ice Cream to finish off your meal. It's not always garnished the same but when we usually have these items in stock, we will garish it with slices of strawberries, whipped cream, and a mint leaf. Yes, you can eat all the garnishes, too. Green Tea. It's good for you.
